Dear Sisters and Brothers:
You are cordially invited to attend the stated meeting on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 7:30 p.m. for the purpose of receiving petitions and transacting any business that may legally come before the Chapter. Sister Officers must wear white gowns for the meeting as we will perform the Initiatory degree.
Collation: Collation will be under the direction of Sister Lisa F. Britko, PM,, Associate Matron, assisted by the Sister Judy A Porter and Brother Robert M. Porter Jr, PP.
Rehearsals reminder: 1/10, 2/14, 3/13, 4/10, 5/8, 6/12 – all will be at 6:30pm. Please watch the Facebook site and look for emails for more updates.
From your Secretary
At our September meeting the Dues amount for 2020 was approved by voted of the Chapter. The Dues structure will remain the same for next year however the Chapter membership was highly encouraged to be fiscally responsible in view of the fact that we have a dwindling number of Suppers which was our primary fundraiser, and we have more and more costs and fees due from rental and insurance coverages.
Remember the Dues increase last year now allows you as a New Hampshire member to attend Grand Chapter in NH without paying any Registration fee. Your current NH dues card (thus showing they have paid their per capita through their Chapter) allows you to attend Grand Chapter after stopping at Registration for Credential Packet.
Dues notices are included in this December mailing by first class mail. Reminder that those who attain 50 year membership on/after the year 2011 are remitted their dues portion but the Chapter asks that they pay their per capita portion ($10). If you are suffering from financial hardship and unable to pay dues -please contact your Sister Secretary so work out payment plan or solution. The Paypal ability is up and running since December 2018 and you can pay on line by going to http://blog.pilgrimchapter-oes.org/dues/ . NOTE: There is an additional fee accrued that happens when you pay on line which is the cost of the convenience of on line Paypal usage.
Your dues notice also has area to update records for changes to our membership database. It is also crucial to keep our mailing records up to date, so if you have a change of address please do not delay at sending the Secretary a change of address as soon as possible.
Finally– it is very important that you make sure your family members know that if you should pass away or become incapacitated that they should let the Secretary or the Worthy Matron of the Chapter know. And should you be a Past Matron or Past Patron of this Chapter, consider donating back your jewel to the Chapter. We love and appreciate our Pilgrim Chapter history and do like to hand down those jewels to our subsequent Matrons and Patrons so that your legacy may continue.
Service Work:
We have a few opportunities of Service work coming up to help the Community:
- Our Worthy Matron is collecting scarves for the warmth drive. There has been a donation of yarn for this project- if you knit or crochet. You can make them or buy them at the store already made. This is a great opportunity for all of our members participate and give back to our community even if you can’t make it to meetings. The Scarves will be donated around local town and city areas for the Homeless to use. Contact aimeebusby@gmail.com
- Sr. Jen Pizzi is in charge of the collection of games and toys for Shriners Hospital and the Lap Quilt blankets for Shriners. These Quilts should be in the range of 40inch squared and they are looking themed ones for more for teens and older boys rather than baby and young girls. Contact her at teach1026@gmail.com
- Br. Larry Gullett PGP is heading up a short volunteer effort for 68 hours of Hunger from the fraternal bodies- we have been asked to volunteer our needed hands to bag items on December 16 from 5pm to 7pm at Aldi Food Store on Amherst St. Many hands make light work- contact Larry at ldg39fam@comcast.net for more details.
Happy wishes: Congratulations to Sr. ‘Casey’ Linda Rainey on your joining our Chapter. We hope that you enjoy your membership here and will be happy to involve you with all the service work you wish to do.
Suppers: Our suppers are done for the Fall. We hope to have more in the Spring as this is our biggest fundraiser. A huge thank you to all those who assisted the Chapter in any way with these events.
Thinking of You: Our Annual list of Shut ins, and Partial Shut ins is in this mailing. This is but a short list of many of our members that we try to check in on regularly with card and visits, and always keep them in thoughts and prayers. If you have time to send cards to them – or stop by for visits- I am sure they would be delighted! During this Holiday season be sure to keep our Sisters and Brothers who have been going through various health struggles in your thoughts and prayers, and support those who have had recent losses of loved ones.

At our last meeting: In November we welcomed Sister ‘Casey’ Linda Rainey PM into our Chapter. Sister Nancy E Brooks PM was presented with her Past Matrons jewel from Pilgrim Chapter by Sister Phyllis A Lackie PM. It was one of our oldest jewels belonging to Sr. Hyldegarde M Cookson PM who served in 1943. We talked more about replacing weathered OES signage on the streets in Nashua. Br. Brian spoke about adopting a White Dove Family for the season. He also encouraged all to attend the Dec 7 Masonic Family Holiday Party if you were not traveling to Shriners Hospital to enjoy fellowship and fun that morning. Sr. Nancy and Aimee talked about Shut in visits. Br. Larry Gullett PGP spoke about the upcoming Thanksgiving meal at temple and asked all to reserved the date of Dec 16 for packaging bags for the 68 Hours -Ending Hunger campaign. Sr. Jen Pizzi spoke about the upcoming Shriners trip on Dec 7- we still need toys and games and blankets. She also offered the chapter a Red Cross CPR class if interested. Sr Stacy Desrosiers PM spoke about the upcoming Youth Adult Leadership Conference in January which will focus on working together using better communications tactics to make our Orders thrive. We granted one demit. We draped the Altar in loving memory of Srs. Loretta J Kandres and Barbara B Davis PGM. It was a very busy night!
Nashua Assembly #9 I.O.R.G.: The Rainbow Girls are actively looking for new members, as well as Majority members and Eastern Star members which they can emulate. If you wish to help out, please feel free to stop in a meeting sometime. They are always looking for new members. If you know of a girl, age 11-20 years old, who could benefit from the lessons taught therein, please call Sister Lois Taylor, Mother Advisor, at 603-377-6877. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month (excluding July and August) at 7:00 pm.
Rainbow Pledge Group: The pledge girls are actively looking for new members! Please call Sister Jessica K Stock at 978-228-0059 if you know of a girl between 6 & 11 years old who would like to join. Our Sparkles- a group for girls age 4-6 years old- also meet at that time.

Sisters and Brothers,
The holiday season is upon us. Remember that God sent His Son as a gesture of Love. Celebrate the Christmas season by being kind and spreading love to all around you. We will continue to collect scarves throughout the cold months. In addition, we have adopted a family to sponsor through White Dove. The complete list of gift items is posted to our Facebook Group, but additional items needed are gift cards in any denomination to Market Basket, Target, Walmart, maybe even gas cards. This will go a long way to making sure a family has a Christmas. All donations are due by December 14th so they can be wrapped and delivered. Don’t forget to reach out and visit with our neighbors who may need a friendly face during these cold months. We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!
